German basketball world champions lose in the NBA

The German basketball world champions have suffered a defeat in the NBA. The Toronto Raptors led by German captain Dennis Schröder lost 103:112 to the Miami Heat, while the Orlando Magic led by Franz Vogel and Moritz Vogel lost 111:121 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the Magic’s two consecutive defeats, Franz Vogel scored 14 points and his brother Moritz Vogel 11. Despite Paul Banchero’s 42 points, Orlando also lost its seventh game of the season. Prior to the first two losses, Vogel and his teammates had won nine straight games.

Schroder also didn’t play his best game in the Raptors’ 12 wins (nine losses), finishing with nine points, five assists and five rebounds. The Raptors lost their offensive rhythm in the second quarter and eventually lost the game.

The Dallas Mavericks got back on track after two defeats in their first two games. Superstar Luka Doncic scored 40 points in the 147:97 win against the Utah Jazz. German international Maximilian Kleber, who was missing due to an ankle injury, did not play.
