India, Australia to discuss strategic, defense and security issues

India and Australia will hold their second 2+2 ministerial dialogue on Monday and the discussions are expected to cover a wide range of strategic, defense and security issues.

The two countries are expected to discuss the situation in West Asia, China’s growing belligerence in the Indo-Pacific region, India’s diplomatic dispute with Canada and Russia’s war with Ukraine.

The discussions will also cover bilateral, regional and global matters of mutual interest. The two sides will also exchange views on common priorities to enhance small-scale multilateral cooperation.

The Foreign Ministers of the two countries will also hold the 14th Framework Dialogue of Foreign Ministers on November 21 to take stock of cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Defense Ministry said that Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Richard Mars will co-chair the second India-Australia 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The two countries are expected to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest at the 2+2 Dialogue and the bilateral Defense Ministers’ meeting.

India and Australia held their first 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in 2021 in September.
